EA Marvel Game

EA Marvel Game Reportedly in the Works

A new EA Marvel game is reportedly in development according to insider Nick Baker, otherwise known as Shpeshal_Nick, on the latest episode of the XboxEra Podcast. Baker learned the rumor from an anonymous source and says that he has been told more details on this supposed game, but he is being deliberately tight-lipped so that he doesn’t accidentally give anything away.

Where this rumor of a EA Marvel game comes from

At around the 1:33:00 mark of the XboxEra podcast posted above, Baker explains that it got the information from an anonymous source through private DMs on Discord who had previously verified a seemingly unrelated leaked video that Baker found:

So out of nowhere, this new source sends me a DM the other day saying, ‘So, um, EA is making a Marvel game, heard that EA is probably making a Marvel game.’

Later in the video, Baker revealed that the source “mentioned what [the game] would probably be about, which IP within Marvel it will be about,” but believed that he shouldn’t even give clues to what it is because his fan following would be able to decipher what he says too easily. Baker also admits that he has yet to run this rumor by other contacts who know EA well, but plans to do so at a later date. He is unsure at what stage in production this EA Marvel game might be in, so it could well be scrapped before seeing the light of day.

That EA would consider developing a Marvel game is quite a risk, considering that the “Marvel” name does not guarantee success. While the Marvel’s Spider-Man series by Insomniac Games has been both critically and financially successful, Marvel’s Avengers was overwhelmingly panned by fans and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy underperformed at launch. A Marvel MMO in development at Dimensional Ink was also cancelled last month. That said, Firaxis will be releasing the tactical card game Marvel’s Midnight Suns on October 7, and Insomniac Games has cast the writer for Spec Ops: The Line as the narrative director for the upcoming Wolverine game.

In other news, here’s a $25 PS5 knock-off that might hold you over while the console shortage continues, and here’s how to enter the Overwatch 2 beta on PS5 and PS4 starting June 28.
